There are so many things in life that are unnecessary - third nipples, Tik Tok stars, brussel sprouts。。。add this book to the top of the list。 Ready Player One was unique and fun to read (the movie doesn't exist), but this is an abomination。 While RPO had many, many flaws (misogyny, bad writing, shallow characters), it was easy to look past all that and enjoy the story and the journey。 Can't say the same about Ready Player Two。 This book is poorly written, a complete retread of what's happened be There are so many things in life that are unnecessary - third nipples, Tik Tok stars, brussel sprouts。。。add this book to the top of the list。 Ready Player One was unique and fun to read (the movie doesn't exist), but this is an abomination。 While RPO had many, many flaws (misogyny, bad writing, shallow characters), it was easy to look past all that and enjoy the story and the journey。 Can't say the same about Ready Player Two。 This book is poorly written, a complete retread of what's happened before and a narrator that has regressed into a 12 year old, complete with that level of emotional intelligence and vocabulary - but that might be an insult to 12 year olds to compare Wade to them。 Overall - just a mistake。 Save yourself the anger and don't sully the memory of how much you enjoyed Ready Player One。 。。。more

Different sort of book to the first。

Is Ernest Cline messing with us at this point? He could easily hammer out Ready Player 3 at the same time。 Just write out a long list of any movie references he forgot in this one, separated only by pointless hot-takes he found on twitter。

Really enjoyed the first one, hope this is as good。。

It’s OKI haven’t finished the book yet, because as of this writing it came out under an hour ago, but it seems to me to be not as good as the first book in the series。 I could be wrong about this, but I was a bit disappointed with the lack of realism。 I mean, the original oasis was partly possible with VR headsets, but [POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING] mind reader headsets? Seems kinda implausible to me。

Just about as good as Ready Player One! I was sure I’d predicted a free plot points, but it kept me guessing and thinking the entire way through。 Love it!

Not as great as Ready Player One, but then I guess everyone expected that。It was a solid OK book; not great or amazing。 The real plot didn't start till around 35% through, and the references in places are thick and explained in excruciating detail。Overall, it just felt like a sequel to a successful book to me, rather than a successful book on its own (I rated RP One 5 stars back in the day)。

I'd like to go 5 stars but wokeness always drops a rating。 Any good story that takes time for a pronoun discussion is negatively impacted。 However this was still very enjoyable and a quick read。 i enjoy this author's voice。 i do find myself wishing he would stop explaining every pop culture reference, let us figure it out on our own。 it's nice to understand all the references without expansion and knowing a large percentage of readers will have it fly overhead。 the book is worth reading for any I'd like to go 5 stars but wokeness always drops a rating。 Any good story that takes time for a pronoun discussion is negatively impacted。 However this was still very enjoyable and a quick read。 i enjoy this author's voice。 i do find myself wishing he would stop explaining every pop culture reference, let us figure it out on our own。 it's nice to understand all the references without expansion and knowing a large percentage of readers will have it fly overhead。 the book is worth reading for any fan of course, but Armada is still my favorite of this author。 just leave the sjw work to the mainstream media, they're easier for me to avoid。 im also unclear why Aech needed to be made into a raging racist?? Ruination of a formerly fantastic character。 。。。more

That was a rocky ride。Thank you The Cline (it's a thing) for continuing this story and exceeding expectations。I wondered what a sequel to Ready Player One would look like but could not have guessed many of the topics that ended up in the novel。I am beyond pleased to see some of the controversial nerd topics come up in this book。 We need to talk about bad ducks more often。5 stars。 Looking forward to the next novel, but please don't rush the author。 (>^。^)> Kirby approves。 That was a rocky ride。Thank you The Cline (it's a thing) for continuing this story and exceeding expectations。I wondered what a sequel to Ready Player One would look like but could not have guessed many of the topics that ended up in the novel。I am beyond pleased to see some of the controversial nerd topics come up in this book。 We need to talk about bad ducks more often。5 stars。 Looking forward to the next novel, but please don't rush the author。 (>^。^)> Kirby approves。 。。。more

Wow。 For those concerned, you can go your whole life without reading this and the wonderment of Ready Player One is still intact。 BUT, this is a great extension of the story that I believe enhances the magic of the OASIS。 Ready Player Two had its ups and downs for me。 I struggled with my feelings for characters I had fallen in love with。 I wondered how in the world this story could be as epic and immersive as the first was for myself。 It's worth it in the end。 Overall, it did not disappoint and Wow。 For those concerned, you can go your whole life without reading this and the wonderment of Ready Player One is still intact。 BUT, this is a great extension of the story that I believe enhances the magic of the OASIS。 Ready Player Two had its ups and downs for me。 I struggled with my feelings for characters I had fallen in love with。 I wondered how in the world this story could be as epic and immersive as the first was for myself。 It's worth it in the end。 Overall, it did not disappoint and added more depth to the story。 We see the characters struggle with mental health, addiction, social media, technology, and their own selves。 We're introduced to other worlds and quests inside the OASIS。 And my favorite, meeting some beloved lesser characters on a much larger scale。 Yes this book is worth the read, it has all the beloved quirks I loved about the first book, plus addressing issues with humanity。 。。。more

This book is terrible。 Loved the first one。 Yeah, it’s not out yet, and I haven’t read it。 Just thought I would pre-review it like the idiots on the rest of this thread。

✨dani✨

yeah, that's a big fucking NO from me thank you

Wade has taken over at the contest's conclusion, along with his friends。 But he's then given the knowledge of some new tech that can change OASIS forever, but is it the right time to release it? Aech and Shoto are in, but Samantha disagrees。 They forge ahead and once the new tech has sufficiently saturated the market, a new quest is revealed。I had no idea this book was even in the works until a few months ago。 I loved RPO, so I was in。 Due to the magic of working at a book store, I got this one Wade has taken over at the contest's conclusion, along with his friends。 But he's then given the knowledge of some new tech that can change OASIS forever, but is it the right time to release it? Really great story; loved the villain and how everything played out。 I do admit it doesn't have that "lightning in a bottle" feeling this time around。

*WILL* *BE* *THE* *BEST* *THING* *OF* *2020*Well people are saying it's gonna fail and not live up to the expectations but I'm a 16 year old worm and honestly IDC。 I'm pretty damn sure this book is gonna fly。 I've read a lot of novels definitely but RPO was something quite different。 This is my first comment, so give me the hate

Jin Ryoo

I loved RPO, so I am definitely reading this book!But first, Mr。 Ernest Cline。。。very creative title。 I mean, wow, it's。。。 creative。 LOL this title。

Why are people being so scathing about this without even reading it。 If you loved the 1st one you should be ashamed of yourselves for being dismissive of the 2nd without even giving it the time of day to read。 If you don't like it, don't buy it。 If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all。 🤐🤐🤐

Anne Bonny

Sooooo excited。 Ready Player One is one of those books that is so light and fun that reading it in a day/weekend is not out of the question if you roll like that。
